Scotland is the part of UK, situated to the north of England. The symbol of Scotland is thisle. It became the symbol because of the following legend: Englshmen wanted to conquer Scotts. And decided to attack them at night, when everybody would sleep. But a English soldier stood on thisle, cried and woke up Scotts. Scotts were saved and thisle became the symbol of the country S. is divided into 3 natural regions: the Southern uplands, the Central lowlands, Highlands. A lot of places in Scotland are natural paradise, still untouched by men. Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, well known but its castle. Glasgow is 3rd largest city of UK and its industrial capital. Typical Scottish products are timber, whiskey, salmon. Golf is natural Scottish sport, and it seems to have originated in this country. Scotland is the land of mysteries and myths. There are a lot of castles in Scotland. Every castle has its own ghost. It is said that Glamis castle has 9 of them. Scotland is also famous for its lake Lochness. In 565 A.D. there a monster was mentioned. It’s name is Nessie and it is 6m long with thin neck. Since 1944 thousands of people have claimed to see the monster. And even scientific investigation of the lake was made and photos were take. But the monster wasn’t found. So there is no scientific explanation of it.
